With the turbulence of another round of Tariffs potentially looming, please allow Exus to address your concerns. We'll post relevant news updates here, especially as they relate to Tariffs, and their effects (if any) on our pricing and policies. Remember to bookmark this page.

August 30, 2019

15% tariffs affecting some our products will officially go into effect this Sunday morning September 1st. As the day approaches, the chance that there will be a reversal or any other postponement of this round of tariffs becomes less and less likely.

The United States Trade Representative (USTR) gave formal notice on Wednesday to move forward with 15% tariffs starting September 1st. Read the article on Reuters.

These tariffs only affect our Premium Faux Shutters, and for the time being, we will absorb this increase.

The tariff on Wood Shutters is scheduled to be imposed on Dec. 15th. They're part of USTR's list 4B. See page 4.

The USTR's original 122 page list 4A of items affected by Sept. 1 tariffs (excludes wood shutters and other items found on List 4B).

Trade negotiations between the U.S. and China will likely occur this September. China has expressed interest in resolving the dispute before things escalate further. The outcome is still unpredictable, but for many the outlook seems positive. Reported by Reuters and Washington Post.

In tweets his morning, President Trump ordered businesses to look for an alternative to China, and said he will be responding to China's new tariff's on U.S. goods later this afternoon. CBS News

This afternoon, President Trump threatened to increase the rate on existing tariffs and the tariffs he has already threatened to put on all other goods imported from China. CNN

So far these seem like threats. Whether or not these tariffs will materialize remains to be seen. While prices on our shutters currently remain steady, if nothing else changes, you may want to get your orders in sooner than later.

Today the White House announced some tariffs on goods imported from China will be delayed until December 15. This mostly affects consumer electronics like video game consoles and laptops, but also includes wood shutters. Originally reported by the Washington Post.

August 1, 2019

President Trump announced a 10% tariff on the remaining imported goods from China that haven't already been affected by the initial 25% tariff. These tariffs will take effect September 1, 2019. Read the news here.

President Trump announced today that he will decide whether or not to increase tariffs on goods from China after the upcoming G20 summit in Japan, scheduled for June 28-29. According to an article on Reuters.com published today, he said the decision could be made within 2 weeks of the end of the summit.

This is notification that Exus Shutters will honor the price on all orders that have been placed now, and up until the time of the implementation of any new tariffs. (Orders placed means submitted with deposits made, drawings approved as necessary, and submitted to the factory as per usual).

Exus will do everything possible to notify you in advance of any possible increase in shutter pricing due to future Tariffs. We would like to remind you that currently, we continue to sell our quality shutters at excellent pricing with no tariffs and look forward to a great 2019.

If you have been following the news it appears the GOP is now involved in talks with President Trump regarding the next possible Tariff negotiations. They have already held back on Tariffs on Auto Parts which may be an indication of the GOP's efforts with the President.
