Exus Shipping Status & Safety Concerns

Posted On

We sincerely hope that each of you and your family members remain safe and well during this terrible time of sickness and uncertainty.

We have a lot of ground to cover in this update:

  1. Our factory is operating at 100% at this point and it appears that most businesses in China have returned to something very close to normal. Most restaurants, bars, and businesses are open and operating. There has only been 1 new case of the Corona Virus reported last week in China. It seems that this is under control at this point.
  2. We have 12 containers that are between the shipping dock of our factory in China and the receiving dock of Exus Shutters with more being loaded now. The first container that we will receive following the mandatory closing in China is expected to arrive in Dallas late this week. We will have limited personnel to unload and process containers as they arrive. Please be patient with Exus as we will ship all shutters in the order that they arrive and as quickly as we can.
  3. The ports in California are all open, but operating with limited capacity. There have been some slow-downs that we are experiencing at this point. Right now, the delays are only limited to a few days. Three containers have arrived at the port of Los Angeles and two of them are already processing with the rail companies.
  4. Due to Dallas, Texas imposing a lockdown, our office staff will largely begin working from home effective today, March 24, 2019 as we are taking all of the precautions that we can to keep our employees safe. We will have access to all data remotely and we will open our office each day with limited staff so that we can continue to accept and process all new orders as usual. Our warehouse staff will continue to unload containers and process shipping as the containers arrive. Please communicate all necessary payments with accounting@exusshutters.com when you receive the notification that a payment is required. We know that many of these orders are urgent and we do not wish to delay the shipping or scheduling of the delivery or installation of these orders.
  5. It is really important that you communicate with us using email during this time as our business phones will not forward to our personal phones. The list of emails that you will need are below: General email: orders@exusshutters.com

Last, we have received many questions regarding the safety of the product once it is received and would like to offer this very recent report published by the New England Journal of Medicine: It indicates that “contaminated objects have detectable signs of the virus for up to 24 hours on cardboard…and up to two to three days on plastic or stainless steel”. In short, the virus needs a human host to live for more than a few days on a surface. (see below)

As we have described, none of our factory employees, nor any Exus team member has contracted the virus, nor exhibited any signs of it. We would also like to remind everyone that once our product is packaged and loaded into a container, its voyage takes anywhere from 4-5 weeks to arrive at our Exus facility. Neither the product, nor the packaging would have any living COVID 19 virus after this time period. “The virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is stable for several hours to days in aerosols and on surfaces, according to a new study from National Institutes of Health, CDC, UCLA and Princeton University scientists in The New England Journal of Medicine. The scientists found that it was detectable in aerosols for up to three hours, up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel.” --National Institutes of Health (NIH)
